Swansie Shepherd, the last owner of this farm, kept bees in a specially made, insulated bee house. He also kept them on the top balcony of the 1880’s farmhouse to keep the bears away. Today, bees gather nectar from the tiny white flowers of the blueberry bush, the pink blossoms from our heirloom apple trees, and from the many wildflowers that grow around the farm. Our light, golden-colored, raw honey has a gentle, fruity flavor that is great for tea, coffee, and smoothies. Enjoy it on bread, in yogurt, and oatmeal. It’s also great paired with fresh fruit and cheese for a very special appetizer. Or stir it into a cocktail.
